Filadelfia 3.10

Ten post postanowiłam rozpocząć od kilku nowinek. O kilku rzeczach wiedziałam już wcześniej, o innych dopiero teraz się dowiedziałam, a jeszcze inne zostały sprecyzowane. A wszystkie one zostały razem zebrane "do kupy" i wysłane do mnie i do Kate na maila. A oto wiadomość od mojej drugiej hmamy:

Hello Kate,
As you know, my husband and I are hosting Magdalena beginning in mid-November (starting at a yet to be determined date on or after Nov 17). We have some planned family activities for our "daughter" and I need to process whatever paperwork/permission are required for the following schedule:

November 27 - Thanksgiving Day, we are planning to spend the day at my brother'shouse in Alloway Township (near Bridgeton and Elmer). We are not planning to spend the night and since this is still in the District, I am guess there is no additional or special approval required? We do not have other plans yet for this weekend; however the family usually qrranges other things once we are together. It is possible we would have family guests visit and stay with us in AC. Are there special requirements or permissions to have others stay in our house while Magdalena is with us?

December 5 - December 10, my husband has a business trip to Orlando and we are planning to visit a friend who lives near Daytona Beach for a few days over the weekend (stay in her house 2 nights) and then be in a hotel in Orlando. While my husband is at his meetings, Magdalena and I will visit Disney World. We would leave on Friday night after school is out and depart from Philadelphia airport to Orlando airport. She will miss three days of school for this trip. What additional information/paperwork/permission do I need to get approval for this trip?

December 12 - December 14, we plan to stay overnight in our apartment in Rosslyn, Virgina on Friday and Saturday nights. Magdalena and I would leave after school is out on Friday to travel to DC. We rent this apartment because my husband is a contractor for the USAF and works during the week in the DC area and then usually he travels to AC for the weekends. We would take Magdalena to some of the monuments and museums in DC on Saturday and Sunday before returning to AC Sunday night. We have not confirmed this yet, but we would likely take the train to DC (NJ transit to 30th street in Philly and then Amtrak to DC and metro to the apartment in Rosslyn). What additional information/paperwork/permission do I need to get approval for this trip?December 19 - December 20, we plan to stay overnight on Friday night at my mother's house in Wilmington Delaware. We would leave after school is out on Friday. I have made an appointment for Magdalena at the hair dresser on Saturday morning (same time as my appointment) in a Salon located in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. We will also spend the afternoon with my brother and his family at their house in Chadds Ford before returning to AC Saturday night. We would be traveling by car for this trip. What additional information/paperwork/permission do I need to get approval for this trip?

December 23 - December 26, we plan to spend the nights at my mother's house in Wilmington. Each day there will be various family and holiday activities at either my mother's house or my brother's house in Chadds Ford PA. We would depart after school is out on December 23. We would likely drive a car for this trip. What additional information/paperwork/permission do I need to get approval for this trip?

December 29 - January 4, we plan to take a family vacation to California to visit my best friend and her son, my godson. I lived in California for 15 years from 1989 to 2005 and still have strong ties there and regularly visit 5 to 6 times per year. We would travel by plane from Atlantic City airport to Sacramento. We would travel by car while we are there. We plan to spend most nights at my friend's house but may also use a hotel if the detail planning would require one (it will be a month or more until we finish the detail planning for this trip). While there, we will visit Yosemite National Park, Lake Tahoe and San Francisco. We would likely also visit with another close friend who lives in Yuba City but would not stay overnight at her house. Magdalena will miss no school days and we will be present for the RYE activity planned for December 28. What additional information/paperwork/permission do I need to get approval for this trip?

I will have a similarly adventurous schedule for January and February by the end of November. The only other regular family activity which is not happening in this calendar is my Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) meetings which are held in Delaware on Saturdays. Sometimes they are "day trips" but often I plan to stay at my mother or my brother's house in DE/PA the night before. I am certain we will have another trip to DC in January. Sorry if our family schedule is a bit more of a problem paperwork-wise than other host families, but this is our usual life and we are not doing anything special that would not ordinarily happen in our family.

I did let Alfia know about the Florida and California trips during the orientation meeting in August and she indicated it was fine as long as we got permissions about 30 days in advance. I am leaving on Thursday for a trip to Istanbul Turkey and Pisa Italy and will not return until October 25. I hope you can let me know what we need to do soon, so I can get all the balls rolling before my trip and get all the permissions arranged before the 30 day deadline.

Chyba każdy na moim miejsu nie posiadałby się z radości. Tyle zobaczyć w tak krótkim czasie. Szczególnie, że z pierwszą hrodziną najdalej to chyba byłam godzinę drogi samochodem na herbatce u brata mojego htaty.
Jeśli chodzi o najbliższe plany z Rotary, to pewnym jest, że 28 grudnia w niedziele odbędzie się Wigilia, a wcześniej, 1go listopada UN day w Nowym Jorku. No i ten weekend w Filadelfii... niestety wycieczka mnie rozczarowała. Spodziewałam się poznać choć odrobinę historii miasta, a tutaj jedynie Betsy Ross House i
Independence Hall. No i zapomniałabym o zakupach :/

Zaczęło się 3.10 w piątek. Jak dla mnie na poszukiwaniach kogoś, kto mógłby mnie zawieść do Kate, gdzie mieliśmy spać. Rodzina się wyparła, bo jeśli ja chcę jechać, to muszę sobie kogoś sama załatwić. Tylko jak to zrobić, gdy jestem w obcym kraju i nikogo nie znam? Uratował mnie wielki segregator z informacjami o wymianie i ostatnią stroną z numerami do hrodzin. Zadzwoniłam do hmamy Marii, która mnie pokierowała dalej do osoby, która miała ją zawieźć. Całe szczęście wszystko zostało załatwione na czas i koło 16 widziałam się już z Marią, Violettą i Silvią. U Kate czekała już na nas Giulia, a następnie dołączył Lukas z Chiką, którzy wracali z meczu footballu amerykańskiego ich szkół.
Od razu podjęliśmy integrację - telewizor, filmy, karaoke, a także rozmowy o naszych doświadczeniach związanych z wymianą.
Następnego dnia z samego rana wyjechaliśmy do Filadelfii. Wtedy też drugi raz miałam okazję być w stanie Pensylwania. A oto zdjęcia, którymi mogę się podzielić:
